AUSTRALIA & NZ OCTOBER 2004

The Frontier Touring Company are thrilled to announce that come October this year, America's new darling of soul will be gracing stages across Australia and New Zealand for the first time ever. Widely tipped as the princess in waiting for the soul diva crown, Alicia Keys is talent, looks and personality melded into one glorious package.

At just 23 years of age, the classically trained pianist and singer has already made her mark on the international music scene. Her fusion of old school soul, influenced by the likes of Roberta Flack, Oscar Peterson, Nina Simone and Stevie Wonder, and contemporary R&B has endeared her to both critics and fans alike.Flack herself describes Keys as "the quintessential example right now of what someone with real, deep-rooted talent can do."

In 2001, springing from relative obscurity, Keys released her first album Songs in A Minor, from which the chart-topping single Fallin' was spawned. The album won critical acclaim worldwide, and earned Keys a swag of music awards, including five Grammys. NME proclaimed Songs in A Minor an "almost flawless" offering, touting it as "a record of glorious parts", whilst Pop Matters described it as "a distinct and oft -times brilliant debut."

Keys' current release The Diary of Alicia Keys, featuring the highly popular singles Diary, If I Ain't Got You and You Don't Know My Name, received similar praise. Dot Music labelled it a "masterpiece", Rolling Stone "an assured, adult statement". Demonstrative of the musical mastery she has been honing since the age of five, The Diary of Alicia Keys was written almost entirely by Keys herself and was based on her own life experiences. "I don't put myself in any kind of box; I speak freely with my music," Keys says. Since its release in 2003, the album has gone multi-platinum, selling over 5 million copies worldwide, and resulting in Keys' nomination for three 2004 MTV Awards. Alicia Keys is a talent in her own right, a modern day diva not afraid to reveal her true self to her fans.
