KALEO upgrade Sydney & add second Auckland show on debut AU-NZ tour this April!
18 Jan 2023The debut headline Australia and New Zealand shows of Icelandic phenomenon KALEO have been met with incredible demand, the band completely selling out both dates quickly last year. In response, the band has announced they will upgrade their Sydney show on Tuesday 4 April to the Enmore Theatre and add a second Auckland Powerstation show on Wednesday 12 April.
New tickets will go on sale to the general public at 11am AEDT / 1pm NZDT on Thursday 19 January.
Known for their transformative live performance, KALEO have toured the world playing sweaty nightclubs filled with diehard fans to mammoth crowds at Coachella, Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, where the band was a firm standout. Hand-picked to open stadium dates for the Rolling Stones in 2017, KALEO seduced thousands of music lovers with their majestic rock sound, Julius Son’s towering, blues-inflected vocals and singular guitar licks.
Since the release of their Gold-certified breakthrough album A/B (2016), the five-piece rock outfit—led by frontman/songwriter JJ Julius Son—have proven to be a global success story. With GRAMMY-nominated ‘No Good’ and 2x Platinum-certified ‘Way Down We Go’, which has featured in dozens of television shows, KALEO have established their legion of fans, amassing over 1 billion global streams, 39 international certifications, and close to 7 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone.
On their latest record Surface Sounds (Elektra/Atlantic) Julius Son adopted a new approach, taking inspiration from found sounds of the “surface” around him that he interpolated into the songs—from birds singing to the ambient noise of Icelandic waterfalls—along with the emotional world within. It has garnered the band critical acclaim, Riff Magazine praising “Julius Son’s voice is mesmerizing… it can cut through granite”.
