BANKS (USA) announces exclusive headline show - Goddess: 10 Year Anniversary Live

    16 Oct 2024

In exciting news for fans today, California-bred singer-songwriter BANKS is set to make her live return to Australia this November, in an exclusive, one-off Melbourne performance: Goddess: 10 Year Anniversary Live

Celebrating the ten-year anniversary of her iconic gold-certified debut album, 2014’s Goddess, BANKS (born Jillian Rose Banks) recently announced a forthcoming acoustic version, titled Goddess: Unplugged. This month, the singer will perform five intimate shows in London, New York and Los Angeles, where she’ll reimagine the album acoustically – underplay shows taking place at the same venues she performed in a decade ago, during the original Goddess tour.

Now, it’s Melbourne’s turn. BANKS will touch down on Wednesday 27 November for an exclusive, intimate performance at Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre. The one-off show is proudly presented by ALWAYS LIVE, a 17-day celebration of live music across Victoria supported by the Victorian Government through Visit Victoria, and Frontier Touring. Program out now – visit alwayslive.com.au for program and ticket details.

Four albums into her career, BANKS’s artistry stands out through the rawness and vulnerability that shines earnestly through her music. In 2014, her debut was immediately heralded as one of the best records of the year, hitting #17 on the ARIA Album Chart here in Australia and sitting just outside the top 10 in the US. Featuring production collaborations with Justin Parker, Shlohmo and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, its moody, alternative pop with shades of contemporary R&B created a signature sound that helped build a cross-genre audience, as heard on tracks such as ‘Drowning’, ‘Waiting Game’ and ‘Beggin For Thread’.

“When I’m 100 years old I want to look back on my first album and remember exactly what I was going through in my early 20s,” BANKS told the Sydney Morning Herald back in 2015, upon her first visit to our shores with Laneway Festival. “Everybody has so many different things that they go through and I tried to reflect that on my album. It’s definitely all of my layers and moods.”

Tickets for the Northcote Theatre will go on sale Monday 21 October (12pm local time) via frontiertouring.com/banks. Frontier Members can get early access via the Frontier Presale, which starts Friday 18 October (12pm local time) – see website for details.

Ten years on, the magical Goddess continues to inspire. Don’t miss this special performance, when BANKS takes to the stage to share it once again. Tickets on sale Monday!
