1 Nov 2023Penny Drop and Frontier Touring are excited to announce Belgian electro-pop duo Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul will make their Australian debut with an exclusive Melbourne headline show in March 2024.
Visiting Australia for the first time to headline the 24th Biennale of Sydney and perform at the 2024 instalment of Golden Plains Festival, Charlotte & Bolis will also take to the stage for an intimate headline performance at Melbourne’s The Night Cat on Wednesday 13 March.

A duo founded on shared experiences and a love of experimental electronic and pop music, Charlotte & Bolis are playful musicians with unlimited boundaries of exploration. With Charlotte of Guadeloupian and French-Martinique descent and Bolis of Chinese descent, the two Belgian nationals have created a bond from their life paths, forming a connection that transcends their music.
Veteran musicians in their own right, Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul released their breakout project Zandoli (2019) as a duo, garnering praise from tastemakers and DJs worldwide. Their debut full-length album Topical Dancer followed in 2022, released through DeeWee, the record label founded and run by Belgian electronic duo Soulwax. The multi-lingual album explores hard-hitting subjects – cultural appropriation, post-colonialism and political correctness – set to slick, thumping electro beats. Their playful and acerbic lyrics guide the listener through these uncomfortable subjects, bringing their shared experiences to life on the dancefloor.
“punchy, propulsive electro pop with inventive sound design, absurdist wit, and sly jabs at racism and xenophobia.” – Pitchfork, 8.2 Best New Music
“‘Topical Dancer’ is a triumphant middle finger to the people that need to see it the most.” – NME (4 stars)
"[Topical Dancer] establishes Adigéry and Pupul as a force to be reckoned with." – The Skinny (5 stars)
“a fantastic pop record, one that is lyrically unflinching and musically compelling.” – Louder Than War (4.5 stars)
Charlotte & Bolis have spent the majority of 2023 touring this game-changing project. Rounding out their year with shows across Europe including sold out headline dates and festival sets, the duo will be raring to kick 2024 off with their debut Australian shows.
