Due to overwhelming demand and with his first Melbourne arena show now officially sold out, award-winning songwriter Paul Kelly today announces a 2nd & final Melbourne show to his highly anticipated August/September 2025 tour of Australia and New Zealand, proudly presented by Frontier Touring and Triple M. With tickets being eagerly snapped by fans nationwide, Kelly’s hometown scores a second night at Rod Laver Arena on Sunday 7 September.
This additional Melbourne show is part of Kelly’s biggest-ever tour, which will feature ten arena dates across Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland. These are Kelly’s only live performances for 2025, giving fans the rare opportunity to see one of Australia’s most revered artists live on stage at his largest ever headline shows to date. Accompanied by his incredible live band – Peter Luscombe (drums), Bill McDonald (bass), Dan Kelly (guitar), Cameron Bruce (keys), Jess Hitchcock (vocals), and Ash Naylor (guitar) – his performances are legendary.
Says Kelly, “I remember playing Rod Laver Arena with Leonard Cohen a while back. I loved the way he went about it. He made the space so intimate. I’m looking forward to making many moods there with my band, stillness and storm, a concert with all our colours.”
Tickets for the new Melbourne show will go on sale Tuesday 10 December (10am local time) via frontiertouring.com/paulkelly. Frontier Members can access the Frontier Members Presale starting Friday 6 December (10am local time) – visit the website for full details.
Kelly’s latest studio album, Fever Longing Still, is out now. His first album of new original songs since 2018’s Nature, the record features 12 beautiful tracks inspired by themes of love and longing. Led by the singles ‘Taught By Experts’ and ‘Houndstooth Dress’, the album continues Kelly’s legacy as one of the country’s most beloved storytellers.
Special guests on the tour are Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit (USA), whose Grammy-winning album Weathervanes helped solidify his place among the world’s best live acts. Opening both Melbourne shows is two-time ARIA and nine-time CMAA Golden Guitar winner Fanny Lumsden.
Adding to Kelly’s incredible year in 2024 is the just-released, feature film adaptation of his classic song, How To Make Gravy, streaming from December 1. Adapted for the screen by ARIA-Award-winning musician Meg Washington and her husband, director Nick Waterman, the film brings to life the story behind one of Kelly’s most iconic songs.
