They're renowned for spitting in the face of pop culture and effusive comparisons to Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World and Sum 41 aren't unfounded.
Already confirmed is that this June Gob will head to our shores as special guests of fellow Canadian Avril Lavigne. The Frontier Touring Co. has confirmed that Australia will be getting a little bit more GOB in their lives with the announcement of solo shows in Sydney & Melbourne.
GOB are the punkers that Canada has worshipped for years and the US has recently tried to claim as their own. Now it's Australia's turn to sit up and take notice, because GOB are leaving their audiences GOB-smacked with high velocity performances, quirky one liners and attitude packed tunes.
In fact, "Give Up The Grudge" their first single off new album Foot In Mouth Disease is a tongue in cheek jibe at commercial angst-ridden rockers. In the words of vocalist Tom Thacker "I'm tired of turning on the radio and hearing these corporate nu metal millionaires trying to come off as angry young men. I don't buy it."
Favourites of the Vans Warped Tours for the past three years, GOB have also spent time on the road with the likes of Guttermouth, Sum 41 and most recently as the special guests for Avril Lavigne's world tour.
Live, GOB dish up a value packed show that has had audiences overseas repeatedly coming back for more. As Tom said in an interview with Much Music; "People come to our shows knowing they're in for a good time."
"We have a blast on stage and I think audiences appreciate seeing a band that's not embarrassed to get up there and have fun. That's the way it should be."
GOB's single "Give Up The Grudge" is out now and taken from the album "Foot In Mouth Disease" released on June 9 through BMG Australia.
