MISSY HIGGINS

It’s been an extraordinary 2005 for Missy Higgins. The JJJ Unearthed winner has won MTV and APRA Awards and Rolling Stone Magazine named her their “Artist Of The Year”. However, Missy has actually spent most of this year touring overseas.

Missy will return home in October for a very special series of outdoor concert events. Each will take place under the stars and will feature a handpicked lineup of likeminded musical talent.

“I wanted to be part of a night of music that I would really enjoy as a fan”, the 21 year old explains. “Each of the artists on these shows is a friend of mine and I really respect their music so it’s going to be great to sit outside and listen to all their songs at each of these gigs.”

Local indie hero Ben Lee will be the special guest on all shows. His independent album Awake Is The New Sleep has been a platinum success story this year.

“Missy and I recorded our albums down the road from each other last year”, Lee explains. “We went to barbeques together after work sometimes and we like each other's music. That’s reason enough to tour together in my book.”

The seven shows under the stars will top an amazing 12 months for the former JJJ Unearthed winner, who has won ARIA, APRA and MTV Awards and been hailed "Artist of the Year” by Rolling Stone Magazine.

To support the announcement of her forthcoming national tour, the title track from Missy's Album The Sound Of White was released as a single this week propelling her album back into the national top 10.

In addition to Missy and Ben, *Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne audiences will have the added pleasure of performances by acclaimed US singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne

Unfortunately, in a late development, Howie Day has withdrawn from the tour for scheduling reasons. However, his place will be taken by Australian artists Ash Grunwald (Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne), Holly Throsby (Darwin and Tasmania) and The McMenamins (Sydney).
