You told us you wanted more concerts Perth. Well how about the biggest concert of 2005?
Rod Stewart AND Bryan Adams performing on the same stage exclusively for Perth. In a major coup for Western Australia, Perth will be the only city in Australia to be entertained by both superstars on the one night.
Promoter Michael Gudinski confirmed today that the appropriate council approval has been secured for Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams to perform at Subiaco Oval on Saturday 26 February 2005.
"We submitted an application with council for the concert when we first confirmed the Rod Stewart tour some time ago. We then confirmed Bryan Adams could perform the same night and it was shortly after that the council gave us the green light to go ahead with the concert.
"It will be a fantastic night for Perth, and I have every expectation that a large part of the population of West Australia will be beside themselves with excitement about this announcement ."
"Individually Rod and Bryan's concerts are must sees. But having both of these legendary artists on the one night – for no increase in ticket price – makes this concert an absolute necessity for any music lover."
Proceedings for the evening will kick off with Bryan Adams hitting the stage with his Room Service concert. It's a show that's had audiences in raptures overseas, with the Sentinel UK commenting; "we were eating out of his hand from the word go... with feel – good rock anthems and acoustic versions of well-loved songs – a good mix of older and newer tracks – Bryan really belted out the lyrics and looked as if he was enjoying himself as much as the word–perfect crowd."
With a brand new album Room Service (through Universal) about to release into stores on September 20, audiences will be treated to a mixture of classic Bryan and new material. Whispers from local radio indicate that Bryan's new single Open Road has hit written all over it.
And then, last – but definitely not least – there's Rod.
With a career spanning forty years and more than 125 million album sales worldwide, Rod Stewart will entertain Perth with his much acclaimed From Maggie May to The Great American Songbook concert.
The first half of the show features Rod performing the hits that have made him a household name. He then returns, after a short break, accompanied by an orchestra to perform material from his platinum selling The Great American Songbook series. A third Songbook is scheduled for release in October this year (through BMG), and expectations are that it will prove equal to the phenomenal success Volume I and II have already enjoyed in Australia.
Tickets to see Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams perform at Subiaco Oval on Saturday 26 February 2005 go on sale on Monday 20 September. Make sure that you don't miss out on this great night of music.
