BACKSTREET BOYS
TOURING AUSTRALIA FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THEIR NEVER GONE TOUR
It’s the news that Australian fans of the Backstreet Boys have been waiting a very long time for. The US supergroup is touring Australia for the first time ever, bringing their acclaimed Never Gone Tour to Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne early next year!
Also known as Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson, the Backstreet Boys leapt to stardom in the late 1990s with hits such as “As Long as You Love Me”, “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”, I Want It That Way” and “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)”. Throughout the early part of their career, the popular quintet sold more than 73 million albums worldwide. And in 1999 they made music history, by selling all 765,000 tickets for their highly anticipated 39-city North American tour as soon as they went on sale.
Now, after a well-earned break, the Backstreet Boys are back bigger and better than ever. They have just released a new album, Never Gone (out now through SonyBMG) featuring the hit singles ”Incomplete” and “Just Want You To Know”. The album showcases the group’s exciting new approach to music.
AJ comments “It’s more organic, with more live instruments… If we kept on doing what we used to do – with the way music sounds today – people wouldn’t care anymore. We had to step ahead of ourselves.”
Whilst Brian adds “It was essential for us to grow. If we’re not getting better and challenging ourselves, what are we here for?”
Overseas reviews of the boys’ latest shows for their brand new Never Gone Tour prove that despite their recent hiatus, the Backstreet Boys have not lost any of their energy, panache, style or appeal:
“It’s too much of a cliché to say the Backstreet Boys are back, so instead: Man! Have they still got it!” The Buffalo News (New York)
“Though the maturity level of their music and performance has undeniably increased, the boys proved that they still knew how to get a party started. The show was filled with not only a superb musical experience, but with tons of special effects, such as lasers, artificial snow, fireworks, video clips and the amazing choreography which made them the kings in the ’90s boy band era, and a legendary part of music history.” Staten Island Advance (New York)
“Perennial teen idols the Backstreet Boys have still got it… It was non-stop screams of delight from the moment the Boys took to the stage last night.” The Gazette (Montreal)
Indeed, the general consensus amongst overseas reviewers seems to be that the band’s more relaxed approach to performing has made them more worthy of their pop superstar status then ever before:
“No meteors. No spacesuits. No futuristic skateboards to ride in midair. No, this time around, the show is just the Backstreet Boys and their music. And that, it turns out is more than enough… The latest incarnation of the Backstreet Boys is more fun-loving, more laid-back and… more musically adventurous than ever.” Newsday (New York)
Australia, now it’s your turn. This is the opportunity you’ve long been waiting for! So make sure you’re a part of the Backstreet Boys’ first ever Australian tour. There will definitely only be one show in each city, so be quick to get your tickets, because who knows when they’ll next return!
Tickets on sale on Friday 2 December.
