THE STROKES
RETURNING TO TOUR AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND
The Strokes need little introduction to Australasian audiences. Last November the band tantalised a privileged few with a ‘secret’ gig at Sydney’s Gaelic Theatre, which sold out in just five minutes. Fans begged for more shows and now The Strokes are delivering with a tour of Australia and New Zealand this August.
Renowned for their electrifying live shows, The Strokes will showcase songs from their latest album First Impressions of Earth (out now through SonyBMG). Performances from the band’s worldwide promo tour last year had both critics and fans alike in a spin.
The Drum Media touted the show in Sydney as “a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
The Sydney Morning Herald wrote that “first born, small brown packages of unmarked bills and access to intimate parts had been offered (and sadly declined) in exchange for tickets.”
Overseas reviews were similarly positive; “tonight’s gig could well be the hottest ticket of the year. The Strokes are back, and sounding better than ever,” Click Music
“…they left the stage, still smokin’ in every sense,” BBC.co.uk
“This band can get 8,000 people dancing, cheering and even crowd-surfing with their stunningly simplistic approach, both visually and musically,” Toronto Sun
The band perform in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth this August.
