"We're going to grab people's attention, and leave them with something to think about."
– Dann from Evermore
Evermore are without doubt one of Australia's most successful young bands. (Well, technically they’re from New Zealand, but we'll claim them anyway!)
That’s why it gives Frontier Touring much delight to confirm a headline tour for the talented trio. The three Hume brothers – Peter, Jon and Dann – will take their dynamic live show to venues in Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane this June.
Evermore have been firm favourites in Australia since the release of their debut album Dreams, which featured the huge radio (and OC) hit It's Too Late. Their brilliant follow-up Real Life (out now through Warner Music Australia) illustrates their continued growth as a band.
Yielding the popular songs Light Surrounding You (which hit #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart this February) and Running, the album is now close to double platinum sales and proves that Evermore’s popularity is steadily on the rise.
The band has a multitude of accolades to their name, including a New Zealand Music Award, an APRA Silver Scroll, an MTV Video Music Award and five ARIA nominations.
Whilst Evermore sound great on paper, they also sound great live. They have a wealth of touring experience - having played over 300 live shows – and can match it onstage with the very best.
Reviewers were impressed with the bands performance on the Split Enz reunion tour last year.
"Fellow New Zealanders Evermore prime the room, brothers Jon, Peter and Dann's lifelong gestation of massed harmonies and iridescent riffs sounded decidedly stadium sized tonight." – Beat Magazine
"Evermore make big noise for a three piece, and use triggered vocal harmonies to good effect… A half-decent clairvoyant would probably predict a few more arena shows in Evermore’s future." – Time Off Magazine
Punters at this year's Big Day Out were similarly impressed, with thousands singing along to the band's every word. Indeed, Evermore certainly know how to put on a show.
UK sensation, Aqualung will support Evermore on this tour. 34 year old Matt Hales is the brains and voice behind Aqualung and his new album Memory Man (out now through SonyBMG), has caused quite a buzz in America and the UK. The album has just been released in Australia and looks set to cause a similar stir.
The Herald Sun awarded the album three and a half stars summing it up as "majestic."
"Like David Gray with a taste for the dark side, Aqualung takes his starkly beautiful tunes and twists them until they’re strange, fractured and sticky-taped back together in uncommon, yet still beautiful ways."
Live, Aqualung always has something to offer his audience. He's been known to play concert halls with as many as 17 people onstage, he's played art galleries on a grand piano and of course he's done the usual sweaty rock club thing too. On this tour, he’ll be treating fans to an intimate acoustic performance, with the help of his brother, Ben.
Local songstress Kate Miller-Heidke rounds this stellar line-up off as the opener for all shows. Kate's beautiful and melodic folk-pop has won her the respect of many local critics, with influential publications full of praise for the Brisbane born singer. "This delightful singer-songwriter is the breath of fresh air the Australian music industry needs." – The Daily Telegraph
