CHRIS BOTTI
RETURNING TO AUSTRALIA
The Frontier Touring Company in association with the Melbourne International Jazz Festival are excited to announce the return of Chris Botti and his seven piece band to Australia for concerts in June 2011.
In August 2010, Chris Botti came to Australia with his 7 piece band – including none other than Lisa Fischer, most known as the touring vocalist for The Rolling Stones for the past 15 years and world famous violinist Caroline Campbell - to headline his own shows.
No stranger to our shores, having played with Sting and Paul Simon during their Australiasian tours, Chris was excited to be able to present his own music here for the first time. Media and audiences were thrilled by these performances and at many of the after show signings the fans were begging Chris to come back and play more shows in Australia.
Happily he has found time in a very hectic concert schedule to come back and perform as special guest of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and will also perform concerts in Canberra, Brisbane & Sydney.
Since the release of his 2004 critically acclaimed CD When I Fall In Love, American trumpet player Chris Botti (pronounced boat-ee) is currently the largest selling American Adult Contemporary instrumental artist. His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music and his ongoing association with the Public Broadcasting Service (USA) has led to four #1 Jazz albums, as well as multiple Gold, Platinum and Grammy Awards.
A master artist and performer, Botti has sold nearly three million albums world-wide. Over the past three decades Chris Botti has recorded and performed with the best in music including; Frank Sinatra, Sting, Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, John Mayer, Andrea Bocelli, Joshua Bell and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler.
Hitting the road for 250 plus days per year, Chris and his incredible band have performed with many of the finest symphony orchestras, at some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including performances at the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony and most recently at a White House State Dinner honoring Hu Jintao, President of the People's Republic of China State. In attendance were Presidents Obama, Clinton and Carter as well as former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright, Henry Kissinger, George Shultz, and current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Other distinguished guests included Barbra Streisand & Yo-Yo Ma.
The latest album (with DVD included) ‘In Boston’ was recorded live with Chris’s band and the Boston Pops Orchestra with reknowned conductor Keith Lockhart. To add to an already auspicious live concert occasion, Chris invited an extraordinary variety of musical artists, including Sting, Josh Groban, Stephen Tyler, Yo Yo Ma, John Mayer and many more to join him on-stage for a pair of once-in-a-lifetime concerts at Boston’s historic Symphony Hall in September 2008. The recorded result is a superb selection of songs and performances available through Universal Music.
Chris Botti’s new self-titled album will be available in Australia around his tour in June and will be made up of some of the greatest loved hits that he has recorded over his illustrious career. More details to come.
