LOCAL NATIVES HEADLINE SHOWS ANNOUNCED
FOR MELBOURNE & SYDNEY IN FEBRUARY 2011
In news that is sure to have Australian fans bursting with anticipation, The Frontier Touring Company are pleased to confirm headline shows for American indie rock sensation Local Natives.
Announced earlier this month, the Los Angeles based five piece are heading down under in February for the Laneway Festivals and now fans can catch Local Natives as they play two exclusive headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney in support of their debut album Gorilla Manor.
Gorilla Manor, a homage to the house the band lived in whilst making the album, is the result of four years of musical collaboration and evolution. Everything from the songwriting to the band’s self produced artwork, is a combination of its individual members talents; keyboardist Kelcey Ayer, guitarists Ryan Hahn and Taylor Rice, drummer Matt Frazier and bassist Andy Hamm.
The unique sound of sky-scraping harmonies and dreamy orchestral melodies, infused with throbbing tribal beats earned Local Natives much attention at SXSW in 2009, followed by their unforgettable performance at Coachella earlier this year.
Needless to say singles ‘Airplanes’, ‘Camera Talk’ and ‘World News’ are creating a huge buzz and critics across the globe are going mad for Local Natives, with good reason:
“This album is one of the most imaginative of the last 12 months” – Hot Press UK
“poetic…enigmatic, unpredictable and utterly addictive… songs, which billow, churn and explode into light” 8/10 – NME
“Occasionally a debut record comes along that a reviewer just can’t quite say enough about… Gorilla Manor – it’s everything it’s cracked up to be and a whole lot more.” Drum
“**** I can’t wait to see them parlay this energy and musicianship into a live show. Highly recommended.” The Age
Local Natives will be joined on stage at the Corner Hotel and Metro Theatre by Leader Cheetah and The Paper Scissors.
Catch Local Natives this February in Melbourne, Sydney and at Laneway Festivals around the country, before it’s too late!
