 ALT-J ANNOUNCE A SPECIAL INTIMATE SYDNEY HEADLINE SHOW!

Every once in a while a band explodes into the international music scene achieving critical accolades whilst scoring legions of fans across the globe. Occasionally the band is worth the hype. alt-J (∆) is that band.

The Frontier Touring Company is thrilled to announce that Joe, Gwil, Thom and Gus will perform a special one off headline show at the Metro Theatre in Sydney this Wednesday, February 6th! The band announced this moments ago to an elated Sydney crowd during a killer performance at St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival.

An exceptional 2012 saw alt-J (∆)’s debut album An Awesome Wave (out now through Liberator) take out the coveted Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize, and receive 3 BRIT award nominations. 2013 has seen the accolades continue with the band receiving three entries in triple j’s ‘Hottest 100’, including hit single ‘Breezeblocks’ being voted at number 3.

alt-J (∆) first graced our shores in October, performing two exclusive live shows in Sydney and Melbourne that literally sold out in minutes. These performances also achieved the kind of rave reviews that grab you by the shoulders and shake you for not being there;

“Newman’s vocals jumped from hushed falsetto yelps to bassy chants throughout the set, incomparable to anything I’ve heard in a long time. Needless to say, the response was good.” ***** Five Stars – Time Out

“For all the musical references to Radiohead and Wild Beasts that are regularly directed alt-j’s way, they tend to forget the grizzly bottom-end of the Brooklynite samba of ‘Dissolve Me’, or the grinding thrill of ‘Fitzpleasure’ – which both contain genuine swagger. It’s all part of the band’s unique defying of genres, instead mixing elements to produce their own distinct art-pop shapes.” – Tone Deaf

Joining alt-J (∆) will be I OH YOU’s City Calm Down, currently a band generating all sorts of buzz. CCD released their debut EP Movements this year (out now through I Oh You), featuring the impressively atmospheric first single Pleasure and Consequence, which has received heavy rotation on triple j whilst the band appeared on The AU review’s ‘13 Australian Bands to Watch in 2013’.

alt-J (∆)’s debut live performance in Sydney was widely proclaimed as one of the best gigs of the year, the band themselves calling it “maybe the best gig we’ve ever played”. This exclusive headline show is absolutely not to be missed!
