VAMPIRE WEEKEND ANNOUNCE SYDNEY HEADLINE SHOW!
The Frontier Touring Company are delighted to announce an exclusive headline show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre for Vampire Weekend, coinciding with the band’s Big Day Out performances.
Across two critically acclaimed albums, Vampire Weekend has perfected an anthology of songs filled with their signature horns and strings, dreamy vocal harmonies and upbeat indie charm.
‘The balance of classical, rock, and world instrumentation, cagey rhythms, and stunning prettiness isn't just architecturally resplendent, it's reassuringly sweet and strangely moving.’ - SPIN
First making their name on the scene with their eponymous debut album Vampire Weekend, the LP scored an 8.8 rating on Pitchfork, four spots in Triple J’s Hottest 100 Countdown of 2008 and sold more than 800,000 copies worldwide.
Their Grammy nominated sophomore release Contra followed, introducing the band’s dedicated fans to new favourites like ‘Cousins’, ‘Horchata’, ‘Giving Up The Gun’ and ‘White Sky’. This record cemented Vampire Weekend as one of the seminal artists of recent times, debuting at #1 on the Billboard Chart and selling more than half a million copies in America alone.
For the past year, Vampire Weekend have taken their time to create and sharpen the songs that will become their yet to be released third studio album. The quartet have been pursuing different projects, gaining inspiration and experiences that they will inevitably compile together for a fresh perspective on a sound that is uniquely their own.
Those lucky enough to attend Vampire Weekend’s Sydney show will be treated to one of the first tastes of the quartet’s latest offering. While there is still no official word on the LP’s release, the band debuted the track ‘Unbelievers’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this month to the delight of Vampire Weekend lovers across the globe.
‘It’s catchy and full of life – and it’s making us extremely excited for the coming months of Vampire Weekend related shenanigans.’ – Purple Sneakers
‘Ezra Koenig sings about what many of us question about love, faith and ultimate fate... It’s a fun, beautiful song – in an ironic, morbid way.’ – Michigan Journal
