Will Sparks
SYDNEY & PERTH SHOWS
The 20-year-old creator of ‘Melbourne Bounce’, Will Sparks is on an unstoppable rise – in 2013 he morphed from a hometown favourite into an international star. With a six-month stint (35 shows in 30 cities) in the USA and a seven-week tour of Europe under his belt, recent hit ‘Ah Yeah’ hit #3 on Beatport, while a remix of ‘Hello’ took the top spot. Almost half a million people streamed his latest Soundcloud mix (listen here). With his debut longplayer set for release in early 2014, Will Sparks’ career is climbing to dizzying new heights.
Joel Fletcher
BRISBANE & MELBOURNE SHOWS
Also hailing from Melbourne is Joel Fletcher, who got his start at just 14 and began spinning discs at club residencies only two years later. You can hear Joel’s beats on releases via dance record labels such as Bush, Boo, Bosphorus Underground, Flat Belly and Italo Business, while his remixes are all over the Beatport charts – including his take on Orkestrated’s ‘Robots’ (which reached #29) and Top 10 originals ‘Bugging Device’ and ‘China Town’. His latest offering, ‘Swing’, has hit the upper echelon of iTunes (listen here).
New World Sound
ALL SHOWS
Together, they’re known as New World Sound (all cities). Brothers Tyrone and Jesse Taylor, 19 and 21, are dominating dancefloors thanks to their banging sound – with first release ‘Peak’ finding fans like Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules and David Guetta. October 2012 delivered dubstep anthem ‘Bantam’, while June 2013’s ‘Aye’ saw the pair signed to Avicii’s very own label, LE7ELS. Vibe magazine meanwhile recently chose them as one of their “30 DJs To Watch in 2014”, while new track ‘Flute’ with Thomas Newson (listen here) went viral thanks to a clever YouTube video, and quickly racked up over five million views.
Throttle
SYDNEY & MELBOURNE SHOWS
If you like progressive electro and funk, then “dirty disco” maker Throttle (Sydney & Melbourne) is the guy for you. The fresh-faced talent has just remixed Avicii’s ‘You Make Me’ (check it out here on Hype Machine), with the track currently sitting at #9 on Beatport’s Electro chart after premiering on Rolling Stone US. Hardwell is a fan, while website Earmilk recently included him in their 100th Mashup Monday.
