Brisbane club show announced
Illusive and Frontier Touring are excited to announce a one-off intimate club show in Brisbane featuring DJ sets from indie-dance kings Hot Chip and techno-pop visionary Matthew Dear on Friday 6 June at Oh Hello!. The acts are in the country for their headlining slots at HOLEANDCORNER, a unique indoor dance event which hits Melbourne and Sydney (the latter as part of the acclaimed Vivid Music line-up). This will be their only Australian sideshow.
Since their first album in 2004, Hot Chip have produced some of the world’s most ambitious, cutting-edge and incredibly danceable synth-pop. Over the past decade, many have come and gone but Hot Chip have continued to go from strength-to-strength, releasing hugely praised avant-garde pop albums which absolutely kill on the dancefloor. Hot Chip DJs (comprising Alexis Taylor, Felix Martin and Al Doyle) will hit the decks at Oh Hello! and are certain to prove why they are such an extraordinary entity.
Depending on whom you ask, Matthew Dear is a DJ, a dance-music producer, an experimental pop artist, or a bandleader. He co-founded both Ghostly International and its dancefloor offshoot, Spectral Sound, and he has had remixes commissioned by The XX, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, The Postal Service and Chemical Brothers, alongside compilation mixes for the likes of Get Physical's Body Language and the fabric mix series. He maintains four aliases (Audion, False, Jabberjaw, and Matthew Dear), each with its own style and distinct visual identity. He straddles multiple musical worlds and belongs to none - and he’s just hitting his stride.
This promises to be a party to remember. Don’t miss out on tickets.
