One of Australia’s most explosive performers, Jimmy Barnes, will join the Stones at Adelaide Oval on the new date of Saturday 25 October 2014.
As lead vocalist for Cold Chisel and with 16 solo albums to his name – including 13 ARIA Album Chart number ones – Jimmy Barnes has both fronted one of Australia’s most iconic outfits and become one of the most successful solo performers in Aussie history. You’d be hard pressed to meet someone who couldn’t sing along to one of Barnes’ quintessential hits, classics like “Working Class Man”, “I’d Die To Be With You Tonight”, “Flame Trees”, “Good Times”, “Rising Sun”... the list is endless.
Inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2005 for his solo work – Cold Chisel already honoured in 1993 – Barnes’ multi-platinum history includes 1984 debut Bodyswerve, as well as 1985’s seven times platinum For the Working Class Man, 1987’s Freight Train Heart, 1990’s Two Fires, 2005’s Double Happiness and more. He sold almost a million copies of 1990’s excellent The Soul Deep, while his most recent record is 2010’s Rage and Ruin, recorded in Los Angeles with long-time producer Don Gehman (John Mellencamp, REM). Currently writing for a new album, Australia’s undisputed king of rock has no plans to slow down.
Barnes is no stranger to stadium shows – in 2013 he thrilled crowds by tearing up the stage alongside Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at their ‘Wrecking Ball’ shows at Hanging Rock, VIC and joined the band once more this year on the Mt Smart Stadium stage in Auckland, NZ.
One of Australia’s most iconic outfits, Hunters & Collectors, will join the Stones at Auckland Mt Smart Stadium on the new date of Saturday 22 November 2014.
Visceral, mighty, and responsible for classics such as ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’, ‘Talking to a Stranger’,‘ Holy Grail’, ‘When The River Runs Dry’, ‘Do You See What I See’, ‘Say Goodbye’ and countless others, Hunters & Collectors will bring their powerful, ferocious live show to New Zealand with the Stones this November. Having farewelled thousands of Aussie fans at wineries across the country as recent headliners of the ‘a day on the green’ concert series, last weekend the reformed Hunters & Collectors performed two, final indoor theatre shows, culminating in a sold-out, emotional goodbye at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre.
Love for the reformed Hunters & Collectors culminated last year with the release of 2013 collection Crucible – The Songs of Hunters & Collectors (out now via Liberation). The 30-track LP collected 15 originals and saw the biggest names in Aussie music – Paul Kelly, The Avalanches, Birds Of Tokyo, The Living End and more – cover their favourite songs, joined on the disc by two long-time, international fans: Eddie Vedder & Neil Finn. On Crucible… the friends joined forces to perform arguably the Hunters’ most enduring classic, ‘Throw Your Arms Around Me’.
Whether you were too young to have witnessed them live or remember the band’s urgent sound, the extraordinary Hunters & Collectors legacy has never faded. Formed in 1981 in Melbourne and led by frontman/guitarist Mark Seymour, across 10 studio albums (such as 1986’s Human Frailty and 1989’s Ghost Nation) the ‘Hunnas’ became renowned the world over for their electrifying, sweat-soaked sound, built up over year upon year of gigs – almost 2,000 shows, in fact. They disbanded in 1998, later inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2005.
British India returned from Berlin earlier this month with album number five written, recorded and ready to be mixed. Lucky ticketholders at The Rolling Stones’ Hanging Rock and Hope Estate shows will be amongst the first to hear the new single from their upcoming fifth full-length release, as well as tracks from 2013’s Controller (out now through Liberation Music) like ‘Summer Forgive Me’ and ‘Blinded’, and selections from their illustrious back catalogue.
The band received their first ever gold record for hit single ‘I Can Make You Love Me’ earlier this year – a long time coming for four Melbourne school friends who have achieved three ARIA Top 10 album debuts, multiple ARIA and J Award nominations, five entries into triple j’s Hottest 100 and the AIR Award for ‘Best New Band’ over the course of their impressive career. British India will be wrapping up the year in style, taking the stage just before The Rolling Stones at Hanging Rock and opening proceedings at the Hope Estate show.
Before even releasing their debut album, Sydney five-piece The Preatures have played mind-blowing sets at Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, Splendour In The Grass and Coachella, performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live, received a bevy of awards and an ARIA nomination, and have a gold-certified single to their name. This October, they can add supporting The Rolling Stones to this list as they kick off the fun at Hanging Rock and follow British India at Hope Estate.
The past eighteen months have been massive for the band; starting with breakthrough hit ‘Is This How You Feel’ which earned the band first prize in the Vanda and Young Songwriting Competition, ‘Best Rock Song’ in the International Songwriting Competition and the #9 spot in 2013’s triple j Hottest 100. Toe-tapping singles ‘Better Than It Ever Could Be’ and ‘Two Tone Melody’ followed suit, seeing the band pick up both local and international acclaim:
The future is looking even brighter for The Preatures, having confirmed this morning that their highly anticipated debut Blue Planet Eyes will be released on September 26 2014 through Universal Music. Make sure you catch them at The Rolling Stones’ Australian outdoor shows to get a taste of the ‘delicious grooves, hip-hugging basslines and choruses that just won’t quit’.

Aug 28, 2014
As the most hotly anticipated tour of the year draws closer, Frontier Touring are proud to confirm that a double dose of young Australian talent will be appearing as special guests at The Rolling Stones’ 14 On Fire Hanging Rock and Hope Estate outdoor shows.
Joining the already announced special guest – Jimmy Barnes, returning to his hometown to perform alongside The Stones at Adelaide Oval – are two of the most well-respected and much-loved outfits on the local music scene; British India and The Preatures. Both known for taking a retro rock sound and giving it a modern twist, they are the perfect complement to one of the most iconic rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time.
‘When you're in the rock business like we are, The Rolling Stones make up a massive part of the musical landscape before you've even picked up a guitar. They're one of the very few bands all four of us truly love and their music has sound-tracked our career since we started.
I think at the moment we're not so much apprehensive or even excited, so much as we are honoured beyond words. It's surreal to even make the connection that we'll be on the same stage as the guys who shaped so much of our musical world and we're determined to rise to the occasion. What can you say? As far as musical accolades go, it doesn't get much better!’ – Declan Melia, British India

‘When we heard there was a chance of supporting The Rolling Stones, we tried not to think about it, in case it didn’t happen. When we actually got the nod from them, we went in to shock and we still are!’ – Gideon Benson, The Preatures.

Toe-tapping singles ‘Better Than It Ever Could Be’ and ‘Two Tone Melody’ followed suit, seeing the band pick up both local and international acclaim:
‘Groove based confection that explodes into one of the year’s best choruses’ – Pitchfork
‘The Preatures finish the set leaving fans totally sated by their f--king amazing talent yet still begging without shame for more.’ – The Music
‘They’ve taken a retro aesthetic and turned it into something modern. Manfredi has all the allure of a young Chrissie Hynde or Joan Jett. What’s more, they’re a band with genuine chemistry and genuinely awesome songs. Clearly, there’s a lot to be excited about.’ – Rip It Up

In addition to the exciting news of The Rolling Stones’ local special guests, Frontier Touring are pleased to announce that a final release of general admission tickets at Hope Estate will be available for purchase from 10am local time next Monday 1 September. With one of the biggest bands in the world making their much-awaited return plus the promise of two of the country’s hottest new talents on the bill, these tickets will not last long – get in quick or miss out!

Frontier Touring and Auckland Stadiums are set to meet huge fan demand by installing extra seating at Mt Smart Stadium!
After tickets sold out to the Rolling Stones and both Eagles concerts, organisers were prompted to work on a solution for fans who missed out.
The south stand will accommodate a further 6,000 people. The upper south stand seats will have magnificent views facing the stage at the rear of the field.
Tickets for the new stand go on sale through Ticketmaster at midday on Thursday 14th August and are specially priced!
ROLLING STONES - UPPER SOUTH STAND TICKETS $165.55 EAGLES - UPPER SOUTH STAND TICKETS $148.30
Frontier Touring Managing Director Michael Gudinski said; “The demand for tickets to both the Rolling Stones and the Eagles in New Zealand is unprecedented. With no further shows possible we started looking at production options that might increase capacity but had thought the numbers would likely be minimal. When Auckland Stadiums suggested a brand new temporary stand we were thrilled – being able to accommodate a further 6000 fans per show was beyond our wildest imaginings. Who would have thought the biggest shows of the year could get any bigger!"
Director of Stadiums Management, Paul Nisbet said; "The speed in which the Eagles and Rolling Stones concerts sold out was a clear indicator for us that extra capacity was crucial to meet the needs of entertainment promoters and to keep the big shows coming."
