CHET FAKER | Announces fifth + final Melbourne show | triple j Hottest 100 winner | 8 shows sold out/remaining shows selling fast!
Feb 05, 2015Chet Faker’s incredible run continues with the announcement of a fifth and final Melbourne date on his all but sold out national tour.
Due to overwhelming demand, Frontier Touring can confirm the final show will see the acclaimed musician play to a home crowd at the Palais Theatre on Saturday 7 March. Tickets will go on sale at 10am AEDT Wednesday 11 February.
The year started off with a massive bang for Chet Faker who dominated this year’s triple j Hottest 100 with a record-breaking three songs in the top ten, including the #1 spot for ‘Talk Is Cheap’ (which has since gone platinum). ‘Gold’ (#7), ‘1998’ (#8) and his cover of Sonia Dada’s ‘(Lover) You Don't Treat Me No Good’ (#21) also made an impact.
At the end of 2014, Chet Faker took out five wins from nine nominations at the ARIA Awards including ‘Best Male Artist’, ‘Best Independent Release’, ‘Producer of the Year’, ‘Engineer of the Year’ (Eric J Dubowsky) and ‘Best Artwork’ (Tin&Ed) for his chart-topping, platinum-accredited debut album Built on Glass (Future Classic).
He recently picked up the J Award for 'Australian Album of the Year' as well as the #1 spot on the listener-voted triple j Best of 2014 Top Ten Album poll, amongst an array of achievements.
Chet’s fanbase continues to expand internationally (thanks in part to an incredible Ellen performance) having just announced a third New York show at the prestigious venue following two sold-out shows there. His LA Nokia Theatre show also sold out in 30 minutes.
There are a few tickets left to the Brisbane and Canberra shows; all other dates are completely sold out so Melbourne fans are urged to get in quick!

CHET FAKER adds Fremantle show + Canberra show upgraded!
Nov 25, 2014As his massive year draws to a close, Frontier Touring are pleased to confirm a show at Fremantle Arts Centre on Sunday 22 February has been added to Chet Faker’s homecoming tour.
In addition to the Fremantle show and due to overwhelming demand, Chet Faker’s sold-out Canberra show on Wednesday 11 February will be moved to the larger Royal Theatre. Chet’s Canberra show, originally at ANU, sold out in a matter of days along with almost all other dates on his homecoming 2015 Australian tour. The show, originally 18+, is now All Ages.
Tickets already purchased for the original venue will be valid for the rescheduled show at the Royal Theatre in the GA floor section and no further action is required. Ticketek advises any ticket holders for who no longer wish to attend the event due to the change of venue may contact them for a full refund on 132 849.
This is his biggest Australian tour to date and the final tour of his award-winning breakthrough debut LP Built On Glass (out now via Future Classic). Chet will be ably supported by Melbourne wonder-producer Roland Tings (except Fremantle) and rising cosmic-funk revivalists GL.
Chet Faker’s July 2014 tour, his first in over two years, was incredibly well received. He sold out three and four shows at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s Forum Theatres respectively, among others.
It’s been a sure and steady ascent for Chet, who single-handedly wrote, performed and produced Built On Glass in a hand-built studio at the disused Melbourne Meat Market and released it in April to endless critical acclaim. The chart-topping album has already picked up three ARIA Awards and leads the field with a total of nine nominations.
Lead single ‘Talk Is Cheap’ is now accredited Gold and the Toby & Pete directed film clip has been nominated in both the ARIA and J Award Best Video category. Chet will be performing at the ARIA Awards on Wednesday 26 November.
Chet Faker also just won the 2014 J Award for Album of the Year for Built On Glass.
There’s also an impressive story unfolding internationally; where Chet has spent most of the year on the road, clocking up over 100 shows this year. He recently sold over 23,000 tickets across Europe and the UK on his sold-out headline tour, including the 2,600 capacity Coronet and, remarkably, a 6,000 capacity arena in Istanbul (where 2,000 fans petitioned to have his 500 capacity venue upgraded after it sold out in two hours).
In the US, his recent performance at FYF Festival in Los Angeles had the 7,000-person arena at capacity for his performance, during which the crowd broke through the barriers to catch a glimpse of his set bringing the festival to a standstill. Chet also enjoyed a sold-out show at New York's iconic Webster Hall, playing to over 1,500 people.
Onwards and upwards, Chet Faker recently recorded his first iTunes Session. The exclusive six-track set is only available on iTunes and features highlights from Built On Glass and ‘I’m Into You’ from the Thinking In Textures EP. Released globally on Friday 28 November, it is available for pre-order now on iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/album/itunes-session/id939597661?ls=1
General public tickets for the Fremantle show go on-sale next Tuesday, tickets to the Canberra Royal Theatre are on-sale now.
