FUTURE SUMMER '15 | Seth Troxler brings his culinary skills to Future Music Festival's food precinct!
Feb 19, 2015HUNGRY? WE’VE GOT YOUR MEATS, BEATS AND COCKTAILS
With the hottest names in music heading down under in 9 days’ time for the epic journey that is Future Music Festival 2015, our massive music line-up – giants like Avicii, Drake, The Prodigy, Die Antwoord, Sven Väth, Afrojack, Martin Garrix + more – just keeps getting hotter!
World renowned DJ Seth Troxler has built himself a reputation for rocking the dancefloor, but we’ve got a surprise food lovers – wait to you taste what he can do in the kitchen. Back in 2011, a Pulse Radio ADE cook-off saw noteworthy DJs trade in their headphones for chef hats and chopping boards. Invited to an intense cook-off in front of a live audience and judging panel (including ex-professional chef Paul Oakenfold), one man proved a culinary giant… Troxler!
Troxler has since taken out the ADE top honour for three years running now, and in August 2013 put his mad kitchen skills to good with a new venture: East London pop-up restaurant Smokey Tails. Serving American smoked meats and cocktails, in 2015 Troxler will bring his delicious skills to Future Music Festival’s Food District in Melbourne and Sydney. Think mac & cheese, buffalo wings, 16 hour smoked spiced BBQ. He’s already housed Smokey Tails at events such as Lovebox and Wilderness festivals in the UK and now it’s Australia’s turn. Smokey Tails will headline Future’s food precinct in each city, which will also feature over seven different and delicious food trucks – vendors varying from state to state, and ready to fill the hungriest music-loving stomach.
In Melbourne you’ll be able to feast on Hammer and Tong, the outlet renowned for soft shell crab burgers, short rib cheeseburgers and potato waffle fries. Also on site will be Hoy Pinoy, Filipino BBQ and street food connoisseurs, who’ll top up your energy level quick smart. Vegetarians: we’d never forget you. Mushroom Co. is the home of marinated mushroom, haloumi and ratatouille burgers. Is your mouth watering yet? Perhaps Nuoc Mama’s Food Truck will tickle your fancy, bringing authentic Vietnamese to Future for super fresh tastes. Got a craving for classic South American cuisine? Head to Senor BBQ.
In Sydney, we’ve got Agape – Australia’s largest organic licensed restaurant, who’ll be using local, in-season ingredients to tempt you. They’re joined by Tsuru Asian Truck (pork belly anyone? Yum!) Bite Size Delights (handmade pita pockets and pastizzi) and Monster Rolls (who reckon they’re “ready to get their dance on!” – think fresh based baguettes and signature sauces), and more.
The music doesn’t stop here: Smokey Tails food precinct will feature a DJ booth, where you might find a surprise guest jumping on the decks… And, of course, all this eating and music comes with a special bar, so don’t forget to grab yourself a cocktail. With a veritable line-up the very best of food, surprise DJs and a chilled atmosphere – don’t miss out on paying Smokey Tails at Future’s food precinct a visit!

FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL BRISBANE: Venue upgrade - we're heading back to Doomben Racecourse!
Jan 20, 2015There’s only 48 days to go ‘til kick off. Brisbane fans planning to attend Future Music Festival on Saturday 7 March: we have news for you!
Due to an overwhelming demand for tickets and staging upgrades, we’re moving to a larger capacity site – a return to our spiritual home at Doomben Racecourse.
Having housed the biggest crowds in Future’s Queensland history, over the past 12 months Doomben has undergone significant works and extensive redevelopment, including numerous improvements in drainage. These changes allow us to return to the site after a year’s hiatus at Brisbane Showgrounds.
The move back from the Showgrounds was inevitable: sharing with Soundwave in 2015 meant we’d have only four days to load-in, not enough time for the festival’s epic new bespoke stage productions, announced just last week. That includes the Supernova, Future’s massive, James Klein-designed electronic main stage arena, headlined by world conquering DJ Avicii – read all about it and see set designs here.
It also makes way for our huge Futuredome stage, on which The Prodigy will debut their very first shows anywhere in the world to feature tracks from their upcoming new album, The Day Is My Enemy – a huge spectacle for the world to review.
Finally, Doomben allows us to house the complete and simply monumental production of the one and only Drake, whose massive arena US show will first visit Australia, before being unveiled at his just-announced headline spot at Coachella.
The changes at Doomben means we now have complete control of the site. Increased sound levels? You’ve got ‘em. More room for punters and for us to create the intense, visceral experience the game-changing bespoke stages will deliver. We’ll debut a brand new site map, including an entire new area: the prestigious polo field, never used before for any music event. Allowing us to build and deliver the best show Brisbane has ever seen, Doomben comes with affordable public transport from Brisbane city via Doomben train station (just four stops from Ascot Junction).
Queensland, you are now getting the biggest and best Future Music Festival yet!
As a result of Future’s return to Doomben, the underage Good Life festival will also be housed at the Racecourse. With ticket sales twice as strong as last year, there’s no doubting Good Life is a firm fixture for youth entertainment in Queensland.

FUTURE SUMMER '15 | SVEN VÄTH to headline Cocoon stage | just announced: SETH TROXLER & GREEN VELVET | second release tickets close to sold out
Jan 16, 2015Stream the latest single ‘Space & Time’ from Seth Troxler on Spotify here
Listen to Green Velvet here
Check out Sven’s latest track ‘L’esperanza Reinterpretaitor’ here
It’s the final day of Future Music Festival’s massive week of announcements, and we’ve got one final stage rundown to unveil: the one and only Cocoon Stage!
Following on from the breathtaking success of world renowned Ibiza legend Sven Väth’s Cocoon Stage at Future in 2014, we couldn’t be more excited to have the acclaimed DJ back again. A true Future veteran, this is his seventh year with the festival. Arguably the world’s leading techno pioneer, with over 30 years behind the decks Sven has serious clout. His latest double CD release is out now: Sven Väth in the Mix: The Sound of the Fifteenth Season. “I am still an explorer with passion for music as my motor,” Väth told The Music recently. “I am not frightened of new talents and new crowds – I embrace them.”
Here’s what Sven Väth has to say about his return. “Future has become an annual highlight. With 11 manic months to follow, this is the biggest compliment I can give. There is nothing quite like being on the road in Australia. The crowds, the colleagues, the fantastic locations. I took some time off after the New Year and there can be no better way to kickstart 2015 than joining you all at FUTURE.”
If you’re looking for the underground party on site, the Cocoon Stage is seriously where it’s at. To cap it off, we also have two brand new internationals who’ll also play this stage: Seth Troxler and Green Velvet.
With a huge Aussie following, Seth Troxler is one of the most anticipated acts to head back down under. Fans who caught him in November know the Detroit-raised DJ is a true connoisseur. Troxler’s constant touring schedule and playful approach has won him plenty of accolades: in 2012 he was voted #1 spot on Resident Advisor’s Top 100 DJs poll, while that same year Rolling Stone magazine voted him #13 in their ‘25 DJs That Rule the Earth’. Troxler will soon release ‘Rogue Music’, a 12-inch collaboration with Phil Moffa on January 26... get a taste of it here.
Known for exploring themes from the comedic to the serious (and his monikers), Curtis Alan Jones – Green Velvet – is one of America’s most captivating producers and a man who makes “folk music for the rave scene”. One of Curtis’ best known creations, Green Velvet proudly wears a green Mohican and displays a dark sense of humour. ‘La La Land’, ‘The Stalker’, ‘Flash’, ‘Preacher Man’, ‘Answering Machine’, ‘Constant Chaos’, 2014’s ‘Bigger Then Prince’... check out his latest track with Patrick Topping, ‘Voicemail’, here. Green Velvet recently launched a new project called Get Real with Claude Von Stroke and is working on an LP with Carl Craig.
Rounding out the Cocoon Stage line-up are leaders of the French underground Shonky, Dan Ghenacia, and Dyed Soundorom – aka Apollonia – as well as Canadian power-house duo Art Department. Apollonia see three of Paris’s hottest DJs come together with a strict, one record each policy. Their debut album, Tour a Tour, was released in November, featuring freaky grooves, synths and deep house. Hailing from Toronto, Art Department are party animals! They scored #1 track of the year at the Beatport Awards in 2011 via ‘Without You’ and iTunes #2 ‘Best Electronic Album’ the same year. The duo’s second full-length, Natural Selection, was released late 2014; listen to it here.
Finally – those wanting to score the cheapest tickets, get in quick: Second Release tickets are almost sold out in all markets and prices will rise very, very soon. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Don’t suffer Future FOMO! Future ‘15 might just be the best day of your life.

HILLTOP HOODS to join FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL | Future Live Stage Presented By Pringles line-up announced| DRAKE Sydney & Melbourne shows sold out
Jan 14, 2015Stream album Walking Under Stars on Spotify here
Watch the Hoods’ Future announce video message here
It’s been a big week of announcements so far from Future HQ – first, 200+ Aussies added to the line-up, then the premiere of ‘Nasty’, the brand new track from The Prodigy – and now we’ve got another corker to share: Adelaide’s ARIA-winning hip-hop kings the Hilltop Hoods have joined the Future Music Festival 2015 line-up!
Making their very first appearance ever on a Future bill, we’re thrilled to welcome the multi-platinum outfit to the party. The band are going to tear up the stages across the country alongside other killer names on the newly unveiled Future Live Stage, Presented By Pringles.
The Hoods’ have had an incredible six months, releasing another #1 smash album (their fourth chart-topper, FYI) in August 2014’s Walking Under Stars, their seventh studio album taking out the ARIA for Best Urban Album last year. Meanwhile their irrepressible, irresistible single ‘Cosby Sweater’ (listen here) is racing towards triple platinum, reaching #1 on ARIA’s Urban charts and #4 on the Singles Chart – making it their most successful single to date, still in the Top 10 five months since its release. Add to that a huge sell-out national tour across Oz and dates across the globe, one thing’s for certain: their set at Future is going to be absolutely epic!
“We are very excited to be announcing we are coming to Future Music Festival this year. This is our first time so you got to come hang with us. We’re going to be bringing our man Mr Plutonic Lab, we’re gonna have our horn section, DJ Debris getting be healthy and sexy... so see you soon Future.”
MCs Suffa, Pressure and DJ Debris first smashed through to the mainstream with their 2004 triple j hit ‘The Nosebleed Section’. In 2006 they released #1 platinum LP The Hard Road, which won them a J Award, while their subsequent two albums have also gone double platinum. Each year the band also launch the ‘Hilltop Hoods Initiative’, which awards a $10,000 grant to emerging artists – in 2015 the round will open next week.
“No one left the venue with any energy, everyone left with a smile ... They are super talented. If you go to a Hilltop Hoods show you will have fun, and that is what music is all about.” – The AU Review
Joining the Hoods on the Future Live Stage, Presented By Pringles is an all-star cast – including the headlining man himself, Drake, whose solo arena shows in Sydney and Melbourne are now officially SOLD OUT, with all other states selling quickly. Sydney and Melbourne: Future is your ONLY chance to catch Drizzy’s massive, state of the art stage and sound production – direct from the USA – in the flesh!
Also on this stage, get ready to catch sets from Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz (who has just launched a new label The Real University, aka T.R.U); honorary Aussie Example, who just moved to Australia and had his first baby with wife Erin McNaught; ‘Nobody To Love’ chart-toppers Sigma; British duo Gorgon City; and ‘Hideaway’ breakoutstar Kiesza, who recently teamed up with bad-boy Joey Bada$$ for his track ‘Teach Me’ – stream it here.
Future are excited to welcome Pringles onboard in 2015 and look forward to delivering one killer stage! We’ve got two more announcements coming your way this week – get set for more big reveals tomorrow.

DARUDE DOWN UNDER! Darude joins the Future '15 line up!
Dec 18, 2014He set the benchmark for modern dance producers, releasing the smash hit ‘Sandstorm’ back in 1999 and selling over 2.5 million copies, the track featured on over 300 compilations. Fifteen years later, he’s still setting crowds alight, with Peking Duk dropping ‘Sandstorm’ in live sets and triple j’s Matt and Alex celebrating his name. Future Music Festival is thrilled to announce a brand new addition to our 2015 line-up: the one-and-only Darude!
“Darude, sir, you’re truly a god among men.” – inthemix
“THE most iconic dance song of multiple generations (step aside Daft Punk)” – Stoney Roads
“Darude should get an honourable mention” – deadmau5
Recognised by DJ Mag as “Finland’s biggest musical export”, Darude (Ville Virtanen) hails from Hinnerjoki, but has for many years lived in Atlanta (USA). He recently saw his iconic track ‘Sandstorm’ storm back into the Aussie charts, ‘Sandstorm’ hitting #18 on the Australian iTunes chart with thanks to name checks from Peking Duk and beyond. The legendary producer is so popular that a local Pozible campaign was launched in November (by Noisey/Thump writer and rap squat aficionado Rei Barker) to bring Darude out on tour... check it out here. Rei, you’ve got your wish!
“I am anxiously awaiting my return to Australia!” says Darude. “It has been WAY too long. My previous Australian shows have been great, full of wild and crazy party people. The Aussies in general are such nice people and I can’t wait to see everyone out on the Future Music Festival tour! Which artist am I most excited to tour with? It’s hard to pick only one, but my all-time favourite has to be The Prodigy. I’ve seen them live as a spectator, and now I’m so excited to be sharing a stage with them! See you soon Australia!”
While Darude is responsible for releasing the world's best selling 12" vinyl of 2000, he’s also one of the most well-travelled DJs out of the US – clocking over 140,000 miles annually. Darude recently wrapped up a world tour in support of his brand new remix album, Salmiakki Sessions Vol 1 and is working on his upcoming fourth album.
Salmiakki Sessions is a reflection of his monthly radio mix show, which has been broadcast online and via FM stations around the world since 2005 – check it out here. “I was constantly dancing or at least bouncing and nodding in the studio when I was working on this mix,” says Darude of his latest production, which includes up-and-coming local Finnish talent. “I’m really excited to have such a strong track-list for my first ever DJ mix compilation and it makes it even sweeter that I’ve got my Finnish buddies with me on it!”
Darude first leapt to fame back in 1999 when ‘Sandstorm’ topped charts worldwide – #1 in Norway for 17 weeks and reaching the top 10 in most European countries. He followed that up with club smash ‘Feel The Beat’, which appeared on his acclaimed 2000 album Before the Storm, earning him three Finnish Grammy Awards. He’s sold over five million records worldwide to date.
In 2011 alongside friend Randy Boyer, Darude set up his own imprint, EnMass Music. He’s remixed artists like Robyn, Paul Corson, J Nitti and Miss Thunderpussy and in 2015 headlines ‘The Groove Cruise’s five-day dance cruise.
With a legendary status and long-terms success, Future Music Festival are excited to welcome Darude down under! Catch Darude joining the Future party alongside such Drake, Avicii, the Prodigy and many more this summer! Tickets are on sale now.

KNIFE PARTY join FUTURE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2015!
Nov 17, 2014Off the back off an absolutely huge reaction from fans across the globe, the debut album from critically acclaimed electronic music heavyweights Knife Party is here – Abandon Ship. Future Music Festival is thrilled to announce that the Perth-via-London duo will join our 2015 line-up, performing right across the country to Future audiences next Feb/March!
Unexpectedly dropping three weeks ahead of schedule, Abandon Ship immediately stormed into the charts, reaching #2 on iTunes Album Charts in Australia, #2 in the UK (BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe naming it Album Of The Week) and #3 in the USA.
Future HQ wanted to embrace the band’s amazing recent success and welcome them home in the biggest way possible. We couldn’t resist offering Knife Party the chance to bring Abandon Ship to the biggest Aussie audiences of their career to date; and so, Knife Party have joined the party alongside such huge names as Drake, Avicii, the Prodigy and more!
Festival Director Brett Robinson said: “Knife Party have always had such a big impact whenever they have played Future Music Festival. We absolutely love the new album and the response from our audience has been huge. After a lot of discussion, we all agreed the best tour for Knife Party would be main stage on the festival so we just had to make it happen!”
Off the back of the amazing reaction to their debut, the band’s planned December headlines dates have been set aside to make room for their spot on Australia’s biggest national touring festival, described by Knife Party on last night’s triple j interview with Richard Kingsmill as, “One of the best dance music festivals in the world, definitely.”
Don’t despair existing ticketholders: you’re invited to opt in to witness Knife Party’s exhilarating live show in person next summer at Future ’15 – expect to receive an email with all the details soon. As a reward for being a true Knife Party fan, you’ll score a ticket to the festival which will save you a whopping $60 off the regular price.
