SAM SMITH | 2nd and final Auckland show added to meet overwhelming demand!
Nov 27, 2014Sam Smith's soulful voice has captured the hearts of audiences all over the world and now after quickly selling out his first show, Frontier Touring is pleased to announce that a second and final Auckland show at Vector Arena on Wednesday, 22 April has been added to meet overwhelming demand!
The album has already gone Platinum in the UK and Gold in New Zealand, debuting at #1 in the UK albums chart, becoming the fastest-selling debut of 2014, and #2 on the US Billboard Chart, ARIA Albums Chart and New Zealand Albums Chart.
Not content with just storming the charts the album has also been commandeering the attention and acclaim of critics:
‘Smith bares more than his vocal cords on this record. Every story of unrequited love that's been put to song is powerful in its own right.’ –Billboard 8.5/10
‘Sam Smith is big for a reason, and has certain expectation attributed to him. In The Lonely Hour doesn’t buckle under that, it succeeds despite it, and will cement Smith as a bona-fide UK icon.’ – Music OMH ????
In The Lonely Hour’s first single, the ludicrously catchy ‘Money On My Mind’ (watch here) won Smith another UK #1 and Platinum certification. Subsequent single ‘Stay With Me’ (watch here) has become Smith's most successful single to date - going triple Platinum in Australia, Platinum in New Zealand and reaching the top ten in over twelve countries.
Smith gave an acclaimed rendition of ‘Stay With Me’ at the recent MTV VMA’s (watch here), a shiver-inducing duet alongside RnB legend Mary J. Blige (watch here), and the track has been reworked by the likes of Ed Sheeran and Florence + The Machine amongst others.
The compelling video for latest single ‘I’m Not The Only One’ (watch here) is a tale of unrequited love and longing that is highlighted by Smith’s trademark affecting vocals that features Glee's Dianna Agron and The Mindy Project's Chris Messina.
Live and on-stage Sam Smith is a force of nature. His tour of New Zealand next April are set to be some of the most talked about performances of 2015. Make sure you don’t miss out!

SAM SMITH | 'In The Lonely Hour' tour coming to Australia & New Zealand in 2015!
Sep 05, 2014His soulful voice has captured the hearts of audiences all over the world. Now, Frontier Touring can confirm that Sam Smith is set to bring his highly anticipated ‘In The Lonely Hour’ tour to Australia and New Zealand in April/May 2015!
Smith first announced himself to the world as the distinct guest-vocalist on Disclosure’s chart-scorching breakthrough track ‘Latch’ (watch here). He then featured on Naughty Boy’s No. 1 hit single ‘La La La’ (watch here), amassing a monumental 400 million views on Youtube and counting.
In July of last year, Smith released the Nirvana EP (out now through EMI Australia). A unique fusion of soul and pop, the EP showcased both his breathtaking vocal abilities and adeptly melancholic lyricism. With the long cited influences of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Chaka Khan coming through bright and clear, the EP saw Sam Smith named BBC’s ‘Sound Of 2014’ and follow in the footsteps of Adele, Florence + The Machine and Emile Sandé by scoring the Critics' Choice Award at the 2014 BRIT Awards.
Anticipation had reached fever pitch by the time Smith released his debut album In The Lonely Hour (out now through EMI Australia) in May of this year and boy, did he deliver. An astonishing debut that is equal parts heartbreaking and stirring, In The Lonely Hour has already gone Platinum in the UK and Gold in Australia and New Zealand, debuting at #1 in the UK albums chart, becoming the fastest-selling debut of 2014, and #2 on the US Billboard Chart, ARIA Albums Chart and New Zealand Albums Chart.
Subsequent single and U.S. debut ‘Stay With Me’ (watch here) has continued Smith's record-breaking streak, as he becomes the first UK male artist to ever to have his debut single reach #1 at AAA, AC and Pop radio. The gospel-induced soul ballad is being equally adored across seven radio formats in the U.S and has gone triple Platinum in Australia, Platinum in New Zealand and climbed the top ten in over twelve countries.
Following a slew of festivals and headline shows in Europe and the States, Smith was confirmed as part of this year’s prestigious iTunes Festival. Alongside the likes of Kylie Minogue and Pharrell Williams, he will perform in London with special guest SOHN, you can watch his entire set from 6:00am AEST on September 10 here.
Smith also performed at this year’s Splendour In The Grass festival and collected the kind of praise reserved for veteran superstars:
‘He brought one of the biggest crowds of the weekend into the Mix-Up tent, all ready for a mammoth sing-along. His voice cut through like no other, particularly on a downbeat rendition of Latch. There was no better spectacle on Day Three than watching thousands of people singing at the top of their lungs to Stay With Me. One punter quipped on the way out, “And that’s how Sam Smith won Splendour”.’ – Music Feeds
‘Back to the Mix-Up Stage for the hotly anticipated Sam Smith seemed to be a popular idea, the mega-popular UK crooner pulling everyone towards him as soon as his cover of Arctic Monkeys' “Do I Wanna Know” rang out over the field, and those who were left straggling behind started running when he began set-closer “Stay With Me”. The hit soundtracked sunset, proving the be one of the biggest moments of the festival, the kind you'd link arms with strangers over.’ – The AU Review
Live and on-stage Sam Smith is a force of nature. His tour of Australia and New Zealand next April and May is set to be some of the most talked about performances of 2015. Make sure you don’t miss out!
