Archie Roach is a man of few words but when he speaks or sings, those words lift you up, transport you, and humble you.  

This innate talent is displayed in ‘It’s Not Too Late’, the first single and spiritual centrepiece of Archie’s forthcoming album Let Love Rule (out 23 September via Liberation Music).

‘It’s Not Too Late’ is a prayer to a shared humanity, a call for understanding – it is not necessarily a message for this generation and those who follow. Archie explains:

“It’s a prayer and a hope that it’s not too late to turn things around so that goodness can triumph over adversity. The world, it would seem, is heading towards self-destruction and not just destroying mother earth but each other in wars.”

The single is complemented with a visually spectacular video, shot on Archie's mother's country, the lands of the Gunditjmara peoples in south-west Victoria. Watch it here.

In celebration of Let Love Rule’s release, Frontier Touring are delighted to confirm that Archie Roach will take to the stage for a pair of performances at Sydney’s City Recital Hall and Melbourne’s Elisabeth Murdoch Hall this October. Joining Archie at these very special shows will be Corey Theatre and Members of Dhungala Childrens Choir and Short Black Opera.

Playing tracks from his tenth studio album for the first time as well as selections from an extraordinary career, these shows will be a celebration of Let Love Rule’s main theme and the heart of humanity, love.

Two choirs feature on Let Love Rule. Deborah Cheetham’s Dhungala Children’s Choir and Short Black Opera choir (40 voices in all) are a moving and uplifting addition to the title track ‘Let Love Rule’ and also to ‘No More Bleeding’, with particular members of each taking to the stage with Archie to perform these tracks. 

Archie’s special guest at these shows will be one of Australia’s emerging singer-songwriters, Corey Theatre. His music is curious and playful; it keeps love at the core of its message and always advocates the merits of taking a laid back approach to life. Corey’s debut single ‘Ngathuk Ngalina’ features Archie and is sung in the Gunditj-Mara language. Learn more about the message of the song, as explained by Corey, here.

Recording Let Love Rule became an 18-month journey, taking Archie from a modest inner-Melbourne recording studio, to the Melbourne Recital Centre, and back to his mother’s country, Gunditjmara country.

Although musically the album traverses a range of styles, there is a thread of spirituality woven through the fabric of the record:

“Ultimately, this album is about what I wish for. I’m not necessarily trying to get others to believe that as well. I’m just saying this is me, this is what I hope.” – Archie Roach
