ANNOUNCE EAST COAST HEADLINE SHOWS THIS AUGUST
Frontier Touring and Sugar Mountain are thrilled to announce the return of experimental hip-hop group and force to be reckoned with, Death Grips, to Australia this August for a headline East Coast tour. These will be Death Grips first Australian shows since 2013 and the release of their fifth full-length album Bottomless Pit.
‘Zach Hill, Andy Morin and Stefan Burnett (otherwise known as MC Ride) are easily the most talented, impactful culture jammers of the streaming age.’ – Pitchfork
‘Bottomless Pit finds Ride, producer Flatlander and drummer Zach Hill in their most cohesive and incendiary form.’ – Consequence of Sound
‘For all the hype surrounding Death Grips and the artifice they build around themselves, it’s undeniable that they are worthy of the adoration they receive. Six years in, Death Grips have become essential listening.’ – London in Stereo
Originating in Sacramento, California, Death Grips released their first mixtape Exmilitary for free in 2011. After receiving widespread acclaim upon its release from music critics such as Pitchfork, NME and Rolling Stone, hit single ‘Guillotine’ went on to become Time Out NY’s #1 single of 2011.
They followed this success and prospering cult status with their debut LP The Money Store in 2012, No Love Deep Web that same year and Government Plates in 2013. Tracks such as ‘Get Got’, ‘I’ve Seen Footage’ and ‘No Love’ all cementing their position as one of the most intense and progressive, experimental hip-hop bands around.
After teasing fans with a rebirth following the release of their double-LP The Powers That B in 2015, Death Grips returned anew last year with Bottomless Pit. Praised by critics as their best work yet, the band continues to push the boundaries, refusing to conform to a specific sound. They recently released new track ‘Steroids (Crouching Tiger Hidden Gabber Megamix)’ and have announced they’re working on a new album.
Gaining notoriety for their visceral live shows, chaotic and frenzied audiences, these shows are not to be missed. Death Grips play with overwhelming intensity and are determined to give their audience an unforgettable show. Secure tickets early to witness it for yourself!
