JULIA JACKLIN sells out first & adds second Melbourne show due to overwhelming demand | Sunday 28 May
Feb 24, 2017Due to an overwhelming demand from her southern fans, Frontier Touring and Liberation Music confirm a second show has been added to Julia Jacklin’s upcoming tour at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Sunday 28 May with tickets on sale now.
Solidifying Julia’s continued upward trajectory, news of the second Melbourne show comes mere days after tickets went on sale with the first Melbourne show now completely sold out and Sydney tickets selling fast!
Melbourne’s own Jaala and Rough River will again join Julia for the second Melbourne show on Sunday 28 May.
Presently in the midst of her global victory lap, 2017 will see Julia Jacklin playing once again in the UK, US and Europe for a slew of headline shows – including a sold out 800 capacity London show – prior to her Australian tour in May. She is also on the bill for some very respected international festival such as Primavera in Barcelona, Field Day in London, BBC 6 Music Festival in Glasgow, Pickathon in Oregon and Down The Rabbit Hole in the Netherlands.
The past year can only be described as a whirlwind period for the artist who in only October last year released her stunning debut LP Don’t Let The Kids Win to a tremendous global critical acclaim. Featuring fan favourites ‘Pool Party’, ‘Leadlight’ and ‘Coming Of Age’ – the clip of which (directed by Julia) was released just last week – the album has garnered some remarkable feedback:
“…Don’t Let the Kids Win works like a musical punch to the gut, a tearjerker that makes even the most public of spaces ready sobbing spots.” – Consequence of Sound
“Don’t Let the Kids Win feels very much like one of those albums that will slowly creep into the affections of a large number of people; it’s that lovely.” – The Guardian
Don’t miss Julia Jacklin on her homecoming tour this May!

JULIA JACKLIN announces biggest headline shows to date this May!
Feb 13, 2017After what can only be described as a whirlwind period following the release of her critically acclaimed debut Don’t Let The Kids Win, Frontier Touring and Liberation Music are pleased to announce Julia Jacklin will return to home soil this May to play her biggest Australian headline to date at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Wednesday 24 May and Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Thursday 25 May and will be joined by Melbourne artist Jaala.

The news comes just days after revealing the video clip for her album track ‘Coming Of Age’, a resolve to accept the passing of time, the snappy fuzz of ‘Coming of Age’ perfectly encapsulates the mood of Julia’s debut. All of the videos from the album to date - ‘Pool Party’ ‘Leadlight’ and title track ‘Don’t Let The Kids Win’ – have been creatively directed by Julia herself with ‘Coming of Age’ being no exception to the recipe.
Julia explains the concept behind the clip:
"I spent a lot of my teenage years wandering the streets of my hometown Springwood, so it seemed fitting to make the music video for ‘Coming of Age’ with my high school friend behind the camera and my younger brother and I in front. My first job was at the Springwood gardens Chinese restaurant and I managed to get my old boss in a shot. I didn't think he'd remember me, it's been a decade since I spent my weekends cleaning plates and putting prawn crackers in the deep fryer."
Of the track, Julia said:
“It’s louder than my other songs… More guitars, more noise. It’s about the need for a new muse when one has given you all it can. It’s also like a mirror pep talk. Looking at yourself in the mirror and saying, “Come on, girl!,’ stop fretting over the passing of time and just get to work.”
To say the past year has been a busy one for the Sydney-based artist would be an understatement. In October last year Julia released her stunning debut LP to a rapturous response. Julia toured the UK and US with headline shows and as main support for Whitney and Marlon Williams and played The Great Escape in Brighton and SXSW.
’Julia Jacklin examines themes of love and loss and thoughtfulness with a prickling sense of self-awareness.’ — Noisey
‘You can just imagine yourself drunk, swaying along with her band and someone you love in a dimly lit bar’ – ✭✭✭✭ Rolling Stone Australia
Back home, in addition to playing to sell-out crowds on her national album tour and joining the hugely successful Laneway Festival circuit, Julia also managed to bring the country to tears with her stirring rendition of The Strokes’ ‘Someday’ on triple j’s Like A Version.
Julia continues her international rise this month, returning to the UK, US and Europe for a slew of headline shows – some of which have already sold out – and billings on some very respected international festival such as Primavera in Barcelona, Field Day in London and Down The Rabbit Hole in the Netherlands.
Joining Julia on her homecoming shows will be Melbourne’s own Jaala who burst onto the scene in 2015 with debut album Hard Hold. Last year saw the release of single ‘Junior Spirit’ the first single from the forthcoming sophomore LP. Jaala’s sound affectionately referred to as shed, a cathartic blend of jangly indie-rock and proggy art-pop.
Opening proceedings in Sydney will be solo artist Elizabeth Hughes, who plays with Julia in Phantastic Ferniture and also hails from the Blue Mountains. Elizabeth released ‘Video Shoot’ in August – the first single from her debut EP set for release this year.
In Melbourne get there early for local opener Rough River, the project of local singer-songwriter Kate Skinner who released her new single ‘True Wild’ in January this year will follow up with her sophomore LP The Leaving later this year – the follow up to her self-titled debut.
We look forward to once again welcoming Julia home, don’t miss her biggest headline shows to date this May.
