Neel’s insightful, hard-hitting and at times scathing commentary on topics ranging from youth, media, gender and race, coupled with his array of character voices, impressions, crowd-work and charismatic stage presence has charmed audiences across the globe. Neel is making waves overseas, with runs at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and performing by invitation as a part of the New York Comedy Festival.
Neel’s regional tour kicks off on Friday 11 August at Newcastle’s Lizotte’s, going on to The Street Theatre in Canberra, Gold Coast’s Sharks Club, Sunshine Coast’s Villa Noosa Hotel, Geelong Performing Arts Centre, and Illawarra Performing Arts Centre before wrapping up at Bendigo’s Capital Theatre on Friday 8 September.
★★★★★ ‘The transition from camera to live audience came seemingly effortlessly to the Sydney based comedian, whose radiant charisma and unapologetic sense of humour left nothing to be desired.’ - This Is Radelaide
★★★★½ ‘Fearless and feisty, Neel Kolhatkar’s is a voice that everyone can resonate with, the only setback is the hour not lasting long enough..’ - In Review
After winning the Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s national Class Clowns Competition at fifteen, Neel was invited (in both 2010 & 2011) to perform at the Festival’s Teenage Gala – a showcase of Australia’s best comedians aged 20 or under, and in 2013 was again handpicked by the Festival directors as the youngest of five comics to perform as part of The Comedy Zone - featuring the finest up and coming comedians in the nation.
Neel skyrocketed to Internet fame in 2013 with his viral impressions video Australia In 2 Minutes. This has since been superseded by his popular and provocative short films - in particular Modern Educayshun – which has amassed over 7.5 million views on YouTube alone. Neel has also released his debut, self-produced stand-up special on YouTube, which is soon to be followed by his 2016 live special filmed at Sydney’s Metro Theatre. A main cast member of the digital Emmy award winning TV show #7DaysLater, Neel has also written and performed for SBS’s Stand-Up At Bella Union, The Comedy Channel’s No Laughing Matter, Just For Laughs Stand Up Series, ABC TV’s Mediacrity, and SBS’s Comedy Runway pilot Tip Rats.
Neel's shows always sell out so make sure you get your tickets early!
