ORCHESTRATED | A celebration of classic dance tracks performed with a live symphony orchestra
Jun 15, 2017Frontier Touring & Ministry of Sound Events Australia are thrilled to announce Orchestrated, a celebration of classic dance tracks performed with a live symphony orchestra and some of Australia’s leading vocalists. Orchestrated will take over Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on Friday August 11th and Sydney’s State Theatre on Friday August 18th and will marry the euphoria of the most loved dancefloor moments of the past 25 years with the magic of a live symphony orchestra.
Classic tracks from iconic artists like Fatboy Slim, Bag Raiders, Shapeshifters and Massive Attack will be rearranged, remixed and reimagined in a brand new Australian production, taking the audience on a journey through the best moments in dance music through the ages; from house and chillout to electronica and the biggest anthems of all time.
"After working in clubs and events for 25 years, the chance to take these much loved records onto a big stage in this exciting new format with a full orchestra is a brand new chapter in the ever evolving story of the Ministry Of Sound brand" says Tim McGee, CEO, Ministry of Sound Events Australia.
Orchestrated will bring to life the most memorable dance tracks of all time with the 50-piece Ministry of Sound Orchestra playing alongside one of Australia’s most loved DJs, Groove Terminator "The opportunity to play these classic tracks I have loved for many years on a whole another level with a full orchestra is really the stuff dreams are made of." The orchestra will be led by acclaimed conductor Guy Noble, alongside musical director Adam Sofo and with music arranged by platinum-selling artist and composer Lionel Towers (Gypsy & The Cat). Together, with some incredible guest vocalists, Orchestrated will deliver an unforgettable experience combining the best of electronica with the spine tingling moments created by a live orchestra.
Leading the special guest vocalists is Australian soul singer Daniel Merriweather. Melbourne-born Merriweather broke onto the international scene in 2007, guesting on Mark Ronson’s highly acclaimed Version album. Merriweather’s debut solo album Love & War reached No. 2 on the UK albums chart and lead him to win Best Male Artist at the ARIA Awards in 2009.
Joining Merriweather will be one of Australia’s best live vocalist’s Owl Eyes, who has toured the world as Flight Facilities’ premiere guest vocalist as well as releasing her own classic contemporary and forward thinking alt-pop music.
Together with the Ministry of Sound Orchestra, these voices will awaken some of the most memorable dance tracks of the past two decades.
