Star-Spangled Stand-Up

Frontier Comedy are thrilled to present a hand-selected, star-spangled line-up of four of the funniest comedians Hollywood has to offer; Al Jackson, Dustin Ybarra, Matthew Broussard and Megan Gailey performing in Sydney and Melbourne this June. All known as headline comics in the US this will be the first time Australia gets to see them live, for one night only at Sydney’s Comedy Store on Saturday 10 June and three nights at Melbourne’s Comics Lounge from Thursday 15 June - Saturday 17 June. 

At iconic Hollywood comedy club, The Improv on Melrose last October, Frontier Comedy hosted a showcase to find new comedy superstars to tour down under. The first of its kind; the showcase consisted of 14 of the hottest new US comedians submitted by LA’s major comedy agencies and management, and was hosted by Adelaidean Amos Gill with a closing spot from fellow Aussie, Jim Jefferies. From the artists on the showcase, Al, Dustin, Matthew and Megan were selected for a 2017 showcase tour of Australia, and with a plan to continue to tour them individually from 2018 and beyond.

Cleveland born and raised Al Jackson began his comedy career while teaching in Miami. He’s since had two TV specials, hosted a BAFTA-nominated BBC series Officially Amazing (currently airing on ABC ME and ABC iview), appeared on everything from Jim Jefferies’ Legit to John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show and been awarded Best Of The Fest at the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival.

Megan Gailey grew up in Indianapolis, the perfect town to raise a delusional Midwestern socialite with a love of flirting and vacationing. In 2015 Megan was selected for the prestigious Montreal Just For Laughs New Faces showcase, highlighting the best up-and-coming comedians from across the globe. Her late night debut was on The Conan O’Brien Show, and she was also featured on Adam Devine’s House Party and the MTV series, Ladylike.

Dustin Ybarra is a stand up comedian and actor.  He has been seen most recently in recurring roles on the FOX series Gotham, the ABC series The Goldbergs, and the CBS series Battle Creek. Other television credits include a recurring roles on the cable series Californication and the NBC series The Player. Other appearances include Gabriel Iglesias' Stand-Up Revolution, Chelsea Lately, and Live At Gotham.  His recent film credits include Ted 2, Hop, We Bought a Zoo, Date and Switch, and 21 & Over. Originally from Bedford, TX, Ybarra resides in Los Angeles.

Born in New Jersey, raised in Atlanta, and winner of Houston's Funniest Person, Matthew Broussard isn't really sure where he's from. He puts his degree in Applied Mathematics to good use with his web-comic, mondaypunday.com, where he posts weekly visual-play-on-words puzzles. Another New Face at the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, Matt was also runner-up to Jimmy Carr in the International Roastmasters Invitational. He's appeared on Comedy Central's Roast Battle, The Conan O’Brien Show and filmed a half-hour special for Comedy Central.
