ED SHEERAN Announces Missy Higgins (AU), Drax Project (Auckland), & Six60 (Dunedin) As Special Guests On Next Month's Record-Breaking Tour
Feb 08, 2018
Australia and New Zealand’s biggest ever tour is less than a month away! Ed Sheeran’s18-date stadium tour kicks off with the first ever show at Perth’s Optus Stadium in just over three weeks’ time.
Adding to the already soaring levels of excitement and anticipation surrounding the shows, Frontier Touring are thrilled to confirm a trio of special guests who will be sharing support duties across Ed’s tour - Missy Higgins (all Australian shows), Drax Project (all Auckland shows), and Six60 (all Dunedin shows).
Ed Sheeran said of the announcement:
“I’m very excited to announce the main special guests for my Australian and New Zealand dates.
“In Australia Missy Higgins will be joining me, which I’m very happy about as I’m a long-time fan of her music.
“For Dunedin, Six60 will be joining me which is pretty huge. I’m told we’ve set a record in Dunedin for the most number of concerts, so those are going to be massive shows and it’s great to have Six60 on board.
“For Auckland, Drax Project will share the stage, who are doing really great stuff at the moment plus they hail from one of my favourite places in the world, Wellington, so extra points there.
“And we’ve got some more acts to announce shortly, so stay tuned! Looking forward to seeing everyone very soon.”
Sharing Ed’s innate and captivating talent for songwriting, Missy Higgins will join the tour as special guest for all twelve Australian stadium shows next month. One of the most successful and acclaimed female singer/songwriters in Australian music history, Missy has sold over a million albums in this country, enjoyed multiple #1 hits and won 9 ARIA Awards.
“I’m profoundly grateful for the opportunity to share a stage with Ed and play to so many people but it’s already giving me butterflies. I don’t know whether I’m excited or terrified - probably a bit of both!” - Missy Higgins
Missy first came to prominence in 2004 with acclaimed debut album The Sound Of White, featuring much-loved tracks like ‘Scar’, ‘The Special Two’ and ‘Ten Days’, with albums On A Clear Night, The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle and OZ following. Today, Missy announced the latest addition to her already impressive catalogue with brand new single ‘Futon Couch’ - the first taste of Missy’s first album of original songs in six years, Solastalgia. Those in attendance at one of Ed’s shows may be among the first in the world to hear some of these new tracks performed live!
On support duties at all three of Ed’s shows at Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium will be Wellington four-piece Drax Project. In the space of a few years, Drax Project has grown from being music students busking on the streets into one of the most watched groups in New Zealand.
"We're super excited to open for Ed Sheeran! We take so much inspiration from seeing what he has done, especially as he's come up from similarly humble beginnings to ourselves. We love his songwriting and are all massive fans." – Drax Project
Drax Project will release their second EP T/W/OO shortly and first single ‘Woke Up Late’was quickly added to commercial radio in New Zealand and is currently storming up the Top 40 singles chart!
Rounding out a stellar line-up of special guests is the multi-award winning band Six60, who will open proceedings at all three of Ed’s Forsyth Barr Stadium shows.
"We really wanted to bring our fans something epic in Dunedin and teaming up with Ed Sheeran seemed like a no brainer to make that happen. We just hope he’s ready to experience a Dunedin party." – Chris Mac, Six60
The founding members of the five-piece first met at Dunedin’s University of Otago with their fanbase quickly spreading to universities throughout New Zealand.
The band’s profile exploded rapidly and their self-titled debut album topped the New Zealand album chart upon its release in 2011 and has since been certified 4x Platinum. Similarly, singles ‘Rise Up 2.0’ and ‘Don’t Forget Your Roots’ reached #1 and #2 respectively on the New Zealand singles chart and have been certified double and triple Platinum. As well as success on the charts, the group have picked up an impressive six New Zealand Music Awards including wins for Best Group and Single of the Year.
To date this year Six60 have already played a sold out tour of huge outdoor shows to over 30,000 Kiwi fans. The band continue to break records locally and are excited to open for Ed and be part of his record breaking concerts in Dunedin where it all began for them.
Ed has smashed the Australasian record for the largest number of stadium shows on one single tour with a mammoth 18-date Australia and New Zealand stadium run. With ticket sales already exceeding 950,000, Ed also broke the long-standing Dire Strait’s 1986 record for the most tickets sold on one tour of Australia and New Zealand.
From theatres to stadiums, Ed has sold out every single show on his four tours of our shores, collecting countless shining reviews along the way. Don’t miss the chance to be a part of this record-breaking tour – now with added special guests Missy Higgins, Drax Project and Six60!
ED SHEERAN | WA fans score 15,000 more Ed Sheeran tickets!
ED SHEERAN | WA fans score 15,000 more Ed Sheeran tickets!
Aug 29, 2017
Frontier Touring are very excited to confirm the news released by the WA Government today, that Ed Sheeran’s Friday 2 March 2018 concert capacity at Perth Stadium will be increased by 15,000 extra tickets!
The news was officially announced today by Mick Murray, Minister for Seniors and Ageing, Volunteering and Sport & Recreation.
The original ticket allocation to the Friday night concert was capped at 40,000 tickets due to the uncertainty of completing the construction of the Swan River Pedestrian Bridge in time for the concert and the challenges of delivering sufficient public transport services at the end of the workday’s evening peak in addition to the fans attending the Friday night Ed Sheeran concert.
Following further risk management and transport planning, the additional 15,000 tickets can now be sold for a maximum capacity concert of 55,000.
Transperth will deliver a public transport solution similar to the Adele concert in February 2017 with changes to the regular networking of trains to accommodate concert goers and an increase in special event buses to Perth Stadium.
Touring’s Michael Gudinski said of the news; “We’re very appreciative that the WA Government were able to confirm the increase in capacity for Ed Sheeran’s Friday 2nd March Perth Stadium concert. As the very first outdoor stadium show of Ed’s worldwide tour, it’s going to be a special one, and we’re thrilled that he will be able to play to the full capacity that this fantastic new Perth venue can provide.”
The 15,000 new tickets will include a release of tickets across all price types.
ED SHEERAN | Melbourne fans score an extra 12,000 Ed tickets!
Jul 12, 2017
Australia just can’t get enough of Ed Sheeran, with the British singer songwriter smashing record after record here. So, the folks at Frontier Touring are pretty excited to announce the release of an extra 12,000 tickets to Ed’s previously sold out Melbourne concerts!
Updated production information has allowed for an additional 3,000 tickets per night to be released across the four Melbourne concerts, with new tickets available in both General Admission Front and General Admission Rear for each show.
The extra tickets will be available to purchase from Monday 17 July at 11am AEST. If past evidence is any indicator, these new tickets will not last long!
Ed Sheeran smashed the Australasian record back in June for the largest number of stadium shows on one single tour with the announcement of a phenomenal eighteen date stadium run across Australia and New Zealand. With ticket sales already exceeding 910,000, Ed also broke the long-standing Dire Strait’s 1986 record for the most tickets sold on one tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Ed has also set new records for the most stadium shows on one tour at Forsyth Barr in Dunedin with three shows and at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne with four shows.
Touring in celebration of his record-breaking and chart-topping third studio album ÷ (pronounced ‘divide’, out now through Warner Music), Ed Sheeran continues to set the bar higher and higher for touring Down Under.
From theatres to stadiums, Sheeran has sold out every single show on his four tours of our shores. The new Melbourne tickets go on sale at 11am AEST on Monday 17 July. Don’t miss out!
ED SHEERAN | Returning to Australian & New Zealand stadiums for ÷ World Tour in March 2018!
ED SHEERAN | Returning to Australian & New Zealand stadiums for ÷ World Tour in March 2018!
May 09, 2017
Two Grammy Awards, six billion YouTube views, 70 million online followers, hundreds of thousands of tickets sold across four Australian and New Zealand tours, and a firm foothold on the top of our album and single charts: Ed Sheeran needs no introduction.
Frontier Touring are delighted to welcome one of the biggest names in music back to his adopted home for seven stadium shows across Australia and New Zealand next March as part of his ÷ World Tour.
The tour has already weaved its way through Europe and the United Kingdom, with extensive dates in Latin and North America scheduled before Sheeran returns to our shores:
‘There’s seemingly no stopping this musical phenomenon’ – ★★★★ The Standard
‘A triumphant evening, showcasing a consummate performer in his pop prime.’ - ★★★★ The Telegraph
‘The current king of the charts could do no wrong on Saturday night as he left the Manchester crowd with no voices, but on a definite high’ – ★★★★ Manchester Evening News
The x World Tour (2015) saw Sheeran breaking attendance records across Australia and New Zealand and garnering critical acclaim along the way. On the ÷ World Tour, Sheeran will play even bigger stadiums in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne, return to Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland, and wrap up the tour with his first ever Dunedin show.
Touring in celebration of his record-breaking and chart-topping third studio album ÷ (pronounced ‘divide’, out now through Warner Music), Sheeran will perform completely unaccompanied, joined on stage by just a guitar and effect pedals. The pull of this one-man band is an incredible experience to witness; layers of harmonies, rhythms and guitar parts cast out to a crowd of thousands who sing every lyric straight back to Sheeran.
‘Sheeran’s epic stage performances mirror his music and his life. He is a man alone, in control and vivified by the connections his songs make with his people.’ - GQ
Our first taste of÷ came in the form of the singles ‘Shape Of You’ and ‘Castle On The Hill’ that broke Spotify’s one-day streaming record with a combined 13 million streams in just 24 hours, and debuted at #1 and #2 on the ARIA Singles Chart – the first time this has been achieved in the history of the Australian charts.
The album ÷ and its singles have broken global streaming records and chart records in Australia: all sixteen tracks from the deluxe version of ÷ have charted in the ARIA Top 40, ÷ sits atop the ARIA Albums Chart for its seventh week while ‘Shape Of You’ recently notched up a record-breaking fourteenth week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart.
There’s no denying the strong and long-running connection between Sheeran and Australia and New Zealand; his debut shows in 2012 sold out in just minutes, sophomore album x was Australia’s biggest-selling album in 2014 and in the following year Sheeran became the first artist to embark on national arena and stadium tours completely solo.
From theatres to stadiums, Sheeran has sold out every single show on his four tours of our shores and the ÷ World Tour is sure to follow suit. Tickets go on sale from Tuesday 23 May – act quick to secure yours!
