ANNOUNCES MELBOURNE HEADLINE SHOW THIS JUNE
WITH SPECIAL GUESTS OSCAR KEY SUNG + DJ SETS FROM JUANITA
Frontier Touring and I OH YOU are delighted to confirm a headline performance for cellist, vocalist and producer Kelsey Lu while in Australia for Vivid Festival and Dark MOFO with serpentwithfeet this June.
At this one off show at Melbourne’s Howler on Thursday 6 June, she will perform tracks from her recently released and critically acclaimed and unique debut album BLOOD (out through Columbia/Sony).
Kelsey Lu made her hypnotic debut BLOOD with Rodaidh McDonald (The xx, Sampha) with additional production from Jamie xx on ‘Why Knock For You’ and ‘Foreign Car’, Adrian Younge on ‘Blood’ and Skrillex on ‘Due West’.
‘Dreamy pop…the sort of vocals you want to swim in’ - Noisey
‘Meditative, oscillating between ambient and familiar’ - The Fader
“It’s Lu’s voice, emotionally generous and brimming with hairpin melodic turns, that remains her most potent instrument as she looks inward for resilience.” - Pitchfork
Kelsey Lu left Charlotte, North Carolina at 18 to study cello at University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She spent several years travelling, including a stint in a squat in Hoboken, NJ, and is now based in Los Angeles. She has collaborated and shared stages with the likes of Jamie xx, Florence + the Machine, Solange, Sampha, Blood Orange, Mariah Carey, Skrillex, Oneohtrix Point Never, Sampha, and many more.
BLOOD is Lu’s first project in three years since the critically acclaimed Church EP which saw her travel to Australia to perform at Sugar Mountain festival to rave reviews. Having mostly performed solo with her cello, Lu has transformed her live show with the addition of a full band which will be debuted in LA and New York next month. Fans in Australia will be some of the first to see the new show.
‘[Lu’s] charismatic presence augmented her melodic, wide-reaching songs’ - KEXP
‘A naturally radiant performer who captures the attention of everyone in the room’ - Soundbite Magazine
Kelsey Lu’s originality and musicianship will undoubtedly shine through her live performance. Secure tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment to this unmissable show.
